Since its inception in 2003, COMO Foundation has been working with partners to close the opportunity gap for women and girls. We believe that families and communities benefit when women and girls are educated, engaged and economically secure.

This year, the Foundation is proud to work with three new partners in making a tangible and measurable difference: Health in Harmony, Tiny Totos and Hand in Hand.

Health in Harmony is a rainforest conservation organisation that holistically address the health of people, ecosystems and the planet. Health In Harmony knows that rainforest communities all over the world want to protect forests yet they don’t always have the capacity to do so as they have limited resources and often a lack of tenure over their land. To reverse deforestation, Health In Harmony meets the health and economic needs of the surrounding communities.

Tiny Totos is a Kenyan social enterprise working to ensure that all children can access quality early learning and care, no matter their income. Tiny Totos Kenya partners with informal babysitters and turn them into profitable childcare entrepreneurs. This is achieved through a user-focused intervention model consisting of training, peer network and investment designed to upgrade standards, foster business sustainability, and deliver improved care to children.

Hand in Hand started in 2003 as a single NGO with the goal of eradicating poverty in rural Tamil Nadu, India. Then, as it does now, Hand in Hand operated in places where opportunities for formal employment were non-existent, with most people subsisting on under US$1.9 a day. At its core was the simple premise: that local communities hold the keys to their own economic transformation. Hand in Hand singularly work on enabling women living below US$1.9 a day to become successful business women, by providing them with the skills, credit and market linkages to enable them to transform their lives and their families.
