      Over the moon

COMO Hotels and Resorts successfully launched its Space Summer Camp series led by NASA and Citizen astronauts in three of its island properties.

Play by COMO, an initiative by COMO Hotels and Resorts, successfully ended its Space Summer Camp series for children and teenagers, led by NASA and Citizen astronauts, recently in July and August.

Happening across the brand’s island resorts in Thailand, Bali and the Maldives, young explorers aged between 8 and 16 learnt about space through art, food and movement with veteran NASA astronaut Nicole Stott and Citizen astronaut Sara Sabry, the first Arab woman in space.

Spread over two weeks, each camp offered aspiring young astronauts the opportunity to discover a host of activities that promise adventure whilst educating them about the importance of protecting the environment at the same time. Each fun-filled itinerary comprised of space-themed island experiences which included Moon Rock Scavenger Hunt, Food in Space, Space Games and more.

Opened to guests of the hotels, the camps also tried to incorporate outreach programmes for local children, such as in the Maldives where over 130 local school children from the neighbouring island of Guraidhoo joined the course of the camp.

Space Summer Camp by Play by COMO is part of a wider initiative to encourage families and kids to join the group’s curated outdoor activities. It is premised on the belief that the more time they spend surrounded by the natural world, the more they will develop a relationship with it, an understanding of it, and ultimately care for it.
