      Sacai X Club21 50th Anniversary Presentation

      The Sacai Spring-Summer 2023 runway collection is a special collaboration between the Japanese brand and Club21.

      A celebration of five decades of passion, style and creativity, the Sacai Spring-Summer 2023 runway collection is a special collaboration between the Japanese fashion brand and Club21. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of one of Southeast Asia’s leading retailers of luxury fashion, the show, held at Dempsey Hill and attended by more than 300 invited guests, featured 50 exits, fresh off the Paris Fashion Week calendar.​

      The culmination of a year-long series of projects, the Sacai runway spectacle was the follow-up to the successful launch of SPARKLES – MUDANCE. A Club21 partnership with TEAM WANG design, a Shanghai-based luxury streetwear label co-founded by Jackson Wang and Henry Cheung, the pop-up concept space at voco Orchard is an ode to the brand’s limitless boundaries. For this special tie-up, the brand’s iconic black and white designs have been swapped out for a lively pastel pink, including an exclusive print dedicated to China’s national flower “peonies,” the summer spirit, and tiger stripes.​

      “Club21’s biggest achievement is being the first mover in the luxury fashion space. In the 1980s, we were the first fashion retail company in Asia to bring European brands to this side of the world. Brands like Valentino, Prada, Gianfranco Ferre, Giorgio Armani, Romeo Gigli … the list goes on. It’s easy to forget that decades ago, the top fashion brands of today weren’t exactly “global”. They weren’t in Asia, and they didn’t know where to start,” added the Chief Operating Officer of Club 21. ​

      “One of our key strategies for the future is to keep looking out for raw talent that we can support. We look for brands that are making an impact worldwide and introduce them to an Asian audience. Examples would be brands such as Sacai, Thom Browne, Ami, and Jacquemus.” ​

      “Asia’s fashion scene is going to continue to be dominated by international names but we believe there is going to be place for new, authentic, Asia-led brands.”

      The final act to these celebrations: the re-birth of Blackjack. Re-conceived, designed and produced as an in-house luxury streetwear label, the debut collection is youthful, directional and utility-inspired.
